Some Words From Our Students

We invited our students to write down their ideas on why they like to come to Orangethorpe Learning Center. We will feature Ana Orozco's response this month and will include other students' thoughts in future issues. Ana is a sixth grader who came to us a few months ago from Guadalajara, Jalisco, México, along with her little sister Arcelia. Their first few months in a new country have been an exciting, and sometimes difficult, time for the girls as they have tried to adapt to their new surroundings, make new friends, and learn a new language. Here's what Ana had to say...

I really like to come to the learning center because you really help me with my homework. This has been a really fun class for me. I really would like to thank Norm and Chuck for being there for me and for helping me learn more in English.

And we thank you, Ana, for your kind words and for becoming a part of our OLC family.

We'd Like to Thank:

Welcome to New Volunteers!

Our volunteer corps was joined recently by two young men who attend Chapman University -- Ismael Rodríguez and Perry Spencer. It's good to have you with us, guys. We hope you'll spread the word among your friends at Chapman.

West Fullerton Resource Center

The Resource Center (across the patio from the Homework Center) provides Pediatric Medical Services, health educational classes, exercise classes and other information and opportunities to help you have a healthier life. Most classes are in Spanish or bilingual. Our friends at the Center tell us that in the very near future they'll be offering dance classes to the Learning Center children. Watch for an announcement!

Answer to Last Issue's Quiz

The flag which we pictured last time is the new red-and-white flag of Hong Kong.

This Issue's Quiz

Here's another new flag of a country that has been very much in the news in recent years. Can you name the country where this multi-colored flag flies?

Ask Chuck any Wednesday, or read the next Fun Times.
